About — Why we started

One night, just before closing, a woman came in.

Our restaurant is in an office district. Everything here shuts down by 8 or 9. The places still open at that hour aren't where you'd want to walk into alone.

We had to turn her away. She cried on her way out.

We didn't think much of it at first. Then we started noticing something else — people with celiac disease or food allergies traveling an hour across the city, each way, just to find one meal they could safely eat. They'd flown here for a week and were spending half of it looking for food.

We run a restaurant. We can call any kitchen in Korea and ask what's actually in the food — and we know what to ask. That seemed like something we could do for people who can't.
